The Orangutan Conservation Services Program (OCSP), an USAID project managed by DAI is based in Jakarta, with offices in Sumatra and Kalimantan, is seeking an experienced Database Specialist to be based in North Sumatra

The Specialist will develop a database system and work flow system to accommodate data related to reports of wildlife crime from the field, through to tracking follow up responses from enforcement agencies and those legal process resulting in court convictions or otherwise. It must be designed to link with other existing databases held be key stakeholders and have a security facility that allows for sensitive data to be secured by enforcement agencies only. After completion of the database, selected technicians will be trained in its use and management.

A university degree in IT or relevant subject; and 5 years experience in related work is required. The position is located in Medan.
Fluency in Bahasa Indonesian required; competence in English preferred.

An NGO-managed education program operating in seven provinces in Indonesia seeks qualified candidates of ICT Assistants. This position will be based in Banda Aceh - Indonesia.

ICT Assistants
The ICT Assistants will report directly to Provincial ICT Coordinator.

Job Responsibilities

* to carry out a weekly schedule with core groups of teachers
(assembled from each school in a cluster) to help them use ICTs to:

i. Create learning resources and materials for use in a learner-centered instructional activity, and,
ii. Use ICT to carry out a learner-centered activity in the teacher's classroom.

* through in a multistage process:

I. Provide workshops in active learning using ICTs, as type of learner-centered approaches that DBE 2 is seeking to promote.

II. Co-teach the above workshop activity once with each teacher (or teacher pair, if preferred by teachers) so that the teacher becomes comfortable utilizing this learner-centered, ICT-based approach in his/her classroom.

III. Organizing open lessons in which teachers
across the cluster come and observe a "model" learner-centered activity organized by a fellow teacher.

IV. Conducting in-class observations and structured feedback with teachers. Organizing and arranging the logistics, including planning and consulting with teachers; provision of technology to schools; traveling to various schools; working with teachers to develop teaching and learning materials; scheduling a
teacher meeting.

Required Job Qualifications

* Very strong teaching background and recent experience in the classroom.

* Possess the following:

* Knowledge (awareness and application of learner-centered instruction methods, subject matter);

* Aptitude (issues like leadership, professional development, support); and

* Skills (technology, curriculum design, facilitation, pedagogy).

* Demonstrate good instructional practices which are evident in good presentation skills, time management skills, classroom management, and understanding how ICT can support learner-centered instruction and content.

* Demonstrate good facilitation practices which are evident in the ability to work closely with teachers, provide them with feedback and support, effective coaching and mentoring skills, and ability to run an active learning workshop.

* Be a change agent type which includes eagerness to learn, ability to think innovatively and creatively, openness to change and new ideas, shows high level of motivation and energy needed to help teachers, be proactive, exhibits the ability to be proactive, appears to understand the logistical and conceptual difficulties associated with change

* Be able and committed to the considerable time and work demanded of this position. This includes:

* Participating in a series of training which will require travel to central training location,
* Working in a team with one other ICT Assistants or with an ICT coordinator at the provincial level to provide training,
* Working on an almost-daily basis in schools co-teaching a learner-centered activity with teachers
* Fulfill other functions as assigned by Provincial ICT Coordinator
